Review

Keeping on top of hydrating baby’s dry skin can be a real challenge. Between holding on to your tot's squirming body when you’re trying to apply lotion and dispensing the product itself without making a mess, you’ve got a potential struggle on your hands. Enter CeraVe Bebe Moisturizing Lotion, which impressed our Today’s Parent Approved editors and our parent testers by dispensing just the right amount of lightweight (yet thick and spreadable) lotion with the use of just one hand. This product has also been awarded the seal of acceptance from National Eczema Association and is free of parabens, phthalates, sulfate and gluten, and is also fragrance free.

CeraVe’s bottle earned good marks from our parents for its stout, easy-to-store shape and a pump that lends itself to one-handed use when it’s sitting on a counter. Our editors noted the lock was hard to undo with one hand, but they found it’s easily done with two. Skin sensitivity is always a top concern for delicate baby and toddler skin, and this lotion was put through its paces on newborns and older kids alike. All of our parent testers happily reported that there were no new skin sensitivities or flare-ups of an existing sensitivity after using CeraVe Bebe Moisturizing Lotion for two to three weeks.

My son has extremely sensitive skin, and this lotion was the first product we’ve been able to use on him without any irritation occurring.” —Marisa, mom of one

If you have to wash your hands after applying moisturizer, you're probably using the wrong product. Our editors noted that CeraVe Bebe is quick to absorb and doesn’t leave any residue or white streaks. The unscented lotion—which testers thought was pleasantly neutral in scent—claims to be effective for 24 hours, but our lab and some of our parents found this was not exactly the case. While our testers loved how easy it is to apply the lotion to either damp or dry skin, after six hours our editors noted that skin felt soothed but not as soft as it was immediately after application.

Most parent testers reported their little ones’ skin was noticeably less dry after regular use. The majority of parents said they would purchase this cream, with one exception being a mom who felt it didn’t moisturize quite enough.

After testing it for about three weeks daily, CeraVe will be my new choice for baby lotion going forward. It is easy to dispense the amount you want, absorbs well, doesn’t feel greasy, was gentle on my infant (who suffers from baby acne) and moisturizes well. It’s so effective, my husband and I found ourselves using it for our own dry skin! It’s a really good lotion, even for the most sensitive skin.” —Maygen, mom of two
FINAL WORD

CeraVe Bebe Moisturizing Lotion was praised for its gentleness and ease of use, and our editors and parents noted it has a nice density—neither too thick nor too thin. All of our parent testers reported that this baby lotion provides good value, and the majority agreed it’s worthy of the Today’s Parent Approved seal and said they would happily recommend it to other parents looking for a great unscented lotion to keep their babes' skin smooth and soothed.
