A sweet and smooth yogurt, Danone Creamy is a yummy source of vitamin D and calcium for both little ones and their parents. Made with real fruit and free of artificial flavours and colours, it's available in a range of flavours including strawberry, raspberry and mango-vanilla, and it comes in packs of 16 portable and packable 100-gram servings. All of our kid testers enjoyed the taste (one particularly liked the fruit pieces), and all found the consistency appealing. And their parents unanimously agreed this yogurt can be a healthy breakfast, lunch, dinner or daytime snack.
To analyze the nutrition of each yogurt we tested, we leaned on the expertise of registered dietician Cara Rosenbloom, who conducted a blind nutritional analysis (no brands or labels, just the nutritional information and ingredients list). We looked at 100-gram servings of each yogurt and honed in on the quality of the ingredients and the sugar, protein, calcium and vitamin D content. It's worth noting that a 100-gram serving of plain regular yogurt (non-Greek) contains six grams of natural sugar—so anything on top of that would be considered added sugar.
For each single-serve portion of Danone Creamy that your little one gobbles down, they'll be getting 13 grams of sugar (that’s 3¼ teaspoons), three grams of protein, 10 percent of the recommended daily intake of calcium and 15 percent of the daily recommended intake of vitamin D. While parent testers didn't feel strongly either way about the nutritional content of this yogurt, all agreed they felt good giving it to their kids (and eating it themselves).
Danone Creamy comes in easy-to-open, recyclable containers that are a good size for little hands. All of our testers liked the serving size, and all of their kids were able to open the container on their own without any problems. Just be careful with the sharp edges around the top of each container, as we found the individual cups don't cleanly break apart from each other. While the chance of a spill is lowered by the fact that the yogurt comes already stirred, the yogurt itself is on the runny side, so you won’t have long to snatch it up should it tip over (nobody wants crying over spilt yogurt). With a strong lid and sturdy plastic cup, Danone Creamy is super portable. All of our parent testers agreed that the yogurt was easy to pack in their kid’s lunch or to enjoy on the go.
Price matters, and it's an important factor in our decisions about which products earn the Today's Parent Approved seal. Danone Creamy costs $0.32 per serving, which is on the budget-friendly end of all the yogurts we tested.
All of our parent testers rated the quality of Danone Creamy yogurt as very good, and they were overall satisfied with it. With its smooth texture and sweet flavour, Danone Creamy is a kid-friendly source of calcium and vitamin D. It's nutritional score, popularity with kids and parents alike and budget-friendly price point make it worthy of the Today’s Parent Approved seal.
