When your baby has an angry red diaper rash, all you want to do is get is cleared up fast, to ease your little one's pain and discomfort. A diaper rash cream that will soothe irritation and protect the skin is key, and Seventh Generation Coconut Care Diaper Cream is a great option to try if you're looking for a cream with natural ingredients.
This USDA-certified biobased diaper cream is formulated with organic coconut oil and zinc oxide to shield baby’s skin from irritations. Zinc is a mineral commonly used in diaper rash creams to reduce rashes and soothe redness. Seventh Generation says this cream contains non-nano zinc oxide, and while the definition of "non-nano" varies, the bottom line here is the zinc particles in this diaper rash cream are large enough that they won’t penetrate your baby’s skin. (One parent who tried this cream at home did, however, note that she wished the package indicated the percentage of zinc oxide, and we also felt it should be labelled.) The diaper cream is also free of other ingredients that parents may have a concern with: mineral oil, petrolatum, parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde donors and fragrance.
Not only is this diaper cream a product you won't lose any sleep over, it does a good job of protecting the skin. We enlisted parents to test this diaper rash cream at home with their little ones, and all of them told us that Seventh Generation Coconut Care Diaper Cream is effective in creating a barrier between their baby’s skin and diaper, helping to protect their little one's irritated skin. While less than half of our testers felt their child's skin was less irritated immediately after applying this cream, there was some improvement after a few days of regular use, and our testers said this diaper cream performed about the same as or somewhat better than other diaper rash creams they've used before.
Skin that's in the throes of a diaper rash is super tender, so you want a diaper cream that glides onto the skin without any tugging. In our lab testing, we found that Seventh Generation Coconut Care Diaper Cream spreads evenly and easily on the skin, and parent testers agreed. The cream has a thick consistency, which allows you to squeeze a very precise amount out of the tube (though you may have to use a bit of pressure, especially the first time you use it). Overall, our testers found this cream easy to use, and only couple had a harder time washing the diaper cream off their hands. Testers also like this diaper cream’s smaller tube format because it's easy to toss it in a diaper bag and use on the go.
Price is always important, and we found Seventh Generation Coconut Care Diaper Cream to be on the lower end of price points among the diaper creams we tested. Most of our parent testers felt that a little bit of this cream goes a long way, and its soothing properties and effectiveness add value that make it worth purchasing.
Its creamy application, neutral smell and natural ingredients are just a few of the things our editors like about Seventh Generation Coconut Care Diaper Cream. Our parent testers were also fans: overall, they were satisfied with the cream’s quality, ease of use and value, and all said they would recommend this diaper rash cream to other parents. They also unanimously felt it deserves the Today's Parent Approved seal. Free from many ingredients that parents are concerned about, this diaper rash cream is a great option to try if you're looking for a natural product that will effectively create a protective barrier and soothe skin with regular use.
