To put Attitude Natural Baby Laundry Detergent's abilities to the test, we stained white 100 percent cotton jersey swatches with common stains like spaghetti sauce, mud and sweet potato puree. We were impressed with how well this natural detergent tackled some of the most difficult stains, especially when they were pretreated before washing (Attitude suggests rubbing tough stains with a bit of the detergent before throwing in the washing machine).

With pretreatment, Attitude Natural Baby was able to completely remove formula, sweet potato puree and black washable marker. Although it didn't completely remove coffee and spaghetti sauce (none of the detergents we tested did), both stains were faded to a wearable degree after washing. Attitude Natural Baby tackled the intensity of a frozen blueberry stain better than most detergents we tested. Many of our parent testers were happy with its stain-fighting power as well, and told us Attitude did a good job cleaning away breastmilk, spit-up, sweat and body oil. We noticed that testers who rinsed and pretreated stains before laundering (like we did in our tests) were more satisfied with Attitude’s performance.

While Attitude Baby Natural Laundry Detergent is unscented, a few of our parent testers commented that the detergent had a sweet, pleasant smell. Testers noted their clothes felt fresh and clean after washing, and the majority agreed that this freshness lingered even when the clothes had been in a drawer for a few days. One parent tester commented that she did not find the chart intuitive (especially as a sleep-deprived parent), but most testers told us the chart was easy to understand, and they knew how much detergent to dispense for each load. The lines on the measuring cap can be difficult to read in low light, however, the cap's three-tiered design made measuring fairly intuitive. The wide lip of the lid also helps to prevent any spills, keeping your bottle as clean as the clothes you’ve just washed. The hourglass shape of the bottle makes it easy to grip, giving you more control while pouring.

Overall, the vast majority of our parent testers felt that this was a high-quality detergent that was easy to use. While it is sold at a higher price point than other detergents we tested (at around $0.46 a load), all of our parent testers agreed they would recommend Attitude Natural Baby Laundry Detergent to other parents (especially to those with newborns or little ones with super sensitive skin).
