Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream

Our skin is tough enough to protect our bodies, but exposure to the elements can leave it rough, dry and tender to the touch. Especially during chillier weather, a body cream that hydrates your skin while providing a barrier is the key to happy skin. Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream is designed to lock in moisture as it’s formulated with emollients and humectants. These ingredients provide a protective layer over the skin to reduce water loss so your skin stays moisturized and supple. It’s also free of fragrance, lanolin and parabens, and is safe to use on very dry, irritated skin. Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream’s quality and ease of use was given a rating of good to very good by our parent testers, who were fans of the cream’s thicker texture and smooth consistency, which made their skin feel softer as soon as they applied it.

We tested a bunch of body creams in our lab for factors like spreadability, skin feel and overall effectiveness, and Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream impressed us and our parent testers in its ability to hydrate our skin with its non-irritating formula. We applied a dime-sized amount of the cream onto our skin and took note of how it felt one minute, two minutes and six hours after application. Even after six hours, our skin was still noticeably soft, but we did feel a slightly oily residue from the protective barrier offered by the ingredients.

This body cream is formulated so that it can be applied whenever you need it, but most of our testers went for the classic application times of post-shower or mornings. We found that this cream's texture is bit stiff, but it spread very smoothly and didn't feel heavy on the skin. Overall, we found the body cream was easy to apply, whether on dry or wet skin, and all of our our testers somewhat agreed or strongly agreed that this cream could be applied quickly. A little bit of Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream goes a long way, and most of our parents didn’t feel the need to reapply after a few hours, but one reported that the body cream left a noticeable residue on their hands that they eventually felt the need to wash off. Our parent testers’ preferences for buying body cream primarily focused on price, skin feel and ingredients—and when it came to ingredients, almost all testers said they felt comfortable enough with what's in Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream to use it on their kids, too.

Slightly larger than palm-sized, Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream's durable container is easy to grip and it's a snap to loosen or tighten the lid. The container can become a bit greasy, though, so you may need to give it a wipe after use. Body creams come in containers of all shapes and sizes—squeeze bottles, pumps, tubs...—and the advantage of the tub, as described by one parent tester, is that you can scoop up as much or as little cream as you need. That said, dipping your hand into the cream can introduce germs.

All in all, our parent testers were satisfied with Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream and rated it as somewhat to much better than other creams they’ve used. All but one tester said they would purchase this body cream, and they all said they'd recommend it to other parents and that it's worthy of the Today’s Parent Approved seal. A spreadable cream that works to not only moisturize, but also to protect the skin with barrier-forming ingredients, Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream is a great option to try, especially if you have sensitive skin.
