Whoa! There might be a fight over who’s the new host of Blue’s Clues

When Nickelodeon recently announced that it would reboot the beloved 90s-era kid's show Blue's Clues, it put out an open casting call for a new host. Hundreds have thrown their hat into the ring, but one person caught our attention.

JOHN CENA!?

The 16-time WWE Champion appeared at an audition for the part, dressed in the customary green-striped polo shirt. Cena joked that he might as well audition since he's already so involved with Nickelodeon, probably referencing his upcoming gig hosting the Kids' Choice Awards (for the second time in a row).

When former Blue's Clues host Steve Burns got wind of Cena's interest in the role, he was having none of it. In a video with TMZ, Burns  suggested that the host should be more "normal" person, not a jacked-up pro wrestler. He also called Cena out and challenged him to a fight.

In Cena's defense, he isn't just a wrestler. The forty-year-old has a rap album from his days as the Doctor of Thuganomics. And he's attempting to build a real acting career, following the footsteps of fellow former WWE champion Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. He has roles in the upcoming Transformers prequel, as well as a voice-acting role in the next Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie. Cena is one of the stars of E!'s reality series Total Bellas along with his fiancee Nikki Bella, and hosts American Grit on Fox. And he's among the internet's favourite meme celebrities.

He has also granted the most wishes with the Make-A-Wish foundation in history, so even if you're not a fan, you gotta love him for that.

Nickelodeon's casting call is open to anyone, and it's been suggested they might want to go with a woman this time. There's even a rumour that John Legend and Chrissy Teigen are being considered, along with their daughter Luna.

Since news of Cena's audition went viral, an article was published suggesting that the wrestler is not actually being considered for the role. But if he does get it, his first mystery may be to find out if anyone can even see him.
